Signups for the 2020-2021 SDKC basketball season are now open. Due to covid-19 we are limited on space and will only be able to have a limited number of players. We will have a strict set of Covid-19 rules that everybody will be expected to follow. Failure to follow these could result in being removed from a team and/or a loss of facilities for the entire league. Also, while it is not our plan to cancel the season, it could be cancelled at any time. It could be the owner of the facilities we are using or it could be a kids club board decision all dependent upon Covid-19. We are basing the number of teams in each age group off of the last two seasons and the number of teams we had in each age group during those two seasons. While we wish we could allow every kid to play, we are just not able to due to the covid restrictions and lack of facilities this year. Signups will be online only. There will be no signups in person due to covid-19. When you sign up it will place you on a waiting list. You will not pay at this time. Once our numbers are finalized you will be able to log back in and complete the payment/registration process. Just because you are signed up on the waiting list, it does not guarantee you a spot in the league. Signups will close towards the end of this week. Please read the Covid 19 rules below that will be strictly enforced:
SDKC Basketball Covid 19 Rules
1 All spectators will have to wear a mask. If you can’t comply with this, then you will be asked to leave.
2 Families are asked to sit together and stay socially distant during games.
3 Players and coaches will be allowed to enter the gym 15 minutes before game time.
4 Everybody will be getting their temperature taken entering the gym and anyone with a temperature over 100.4 will not be allowed to enter the gym.
5 Parents will be allowed to enter when the previous game is over. There will be one door for entry and another for exit.
6 For practices: One part of our agreement with using local facilities is to keep traffic inside them to a minimum during the week. The following rules will be enforced related to this:
a 10 and under age group teams will be allowed to have one parent/guardian attend practice with them.
b All other age groups: No parents/guardians will be able to attend practice. You have to wait in the parking lot or outside.
c No siblings will be allowed inside during practices.
7 When your team’s game is finished, players and spectators are to leave the gym so the next set of fans can enter. You are only allowed to stay for your game.
8 Team huddles/post game meetings need to take place outside. It is up to the coaches to get the players off the court and outside as quickly as possible to allow the next teams to get ready to play.
9 Coaches and players need to wear masks until they take the court to warm up.
10 Hand sanitizer will be provided to each player at the start of the game and at halftime. Basketballs will also be cleaned prior to tip off and at halftime of each game. If a player or someone in the household tests positive for Covid-19, then you are to immediately notify your head coach.
We are fortunate to be able to have a basketball season. For this season to be successful it will take everybody following these rules. If these rules are not followed, then the kids club will run the risk of losing the facilities that have graciously allowed us to use them. These rules will be a part of the registration packet and by signing up to play you will be acknowledging your willingness to follow them
